Frequently asked questions

How Holler works and how it handles your audio.

Why don't my HomePods or AirPlay speakers show up?

Holler can't support them. Apple provides no public way for third-party apps to broadcast to multiple AirPlay devices at once — that's reserved for Apple's own apps. Holler supports Sonos and Chromecast / Nest instead.

No speakers are found. What should I check?

Make sure your device is on the same Wi-Fi as your speakers, then rescan in Settings ▸ Speakers. On first scan you'll be asked for Local Network permission — allow it. Networks with "client isolation" or separate guest/IoT VLANs block devices from seeing each other; put everything on the same segment.

Can people hear me live, like a real intercom?

Not in real time. Holler records your message and plays it back on the speakers a few seconds later (typically 2–5). That delay is how Sonos and Chromecast receive audio, not a Holler limit.

Is my audio sent to the internet?

No. Your recordings stay on your device and are streamed directly to your speakers over your local network. Holler has no account, no servers, and no analytics. See the Privacy Policy.

How does the iPhone Action Button work with Holler?

Set Settings ▸ Action Button to Shortcut → "Push to Talk (Holler)". Press it to start talking to your current target; it broadcasts when you send. You can also hold the on-screen button in the app.

Does my music resume after an announcement?

On Sonos, yes — Holler can snapshot what was playing and resume it. On Chromecast, the announcement interrupts current playback and behavior depends on the app that was casting.

What's in Holler Pro?

A one-time $9.99 unlock: unlimited rooms, floors and groups, saved announcements, scheduling, and multiple Action-Button presets. Family Sharing included — no subscription.

Is Sonos supported on iPhone?

Sonos works on the Mac app today. On iPhone, Holler starts with Chromecast / Nest; Sonos on iPhone is coming soon.
